It might not sound like a tag line for a blog piece but it fits here. I was speaking the other day with a good friend and we learned that each of us had been mulling over the same proposition. Life, passion and fun won't just appear one day at our front doors.
It is as though I am sitting in my favorite chair at home ordering up some interesting people to be part of my life, better health, fun things to do and, for dessert, some passion for life and the excitement that would accompany passion.
Guess what? It hasn't happened that way yet and I am tired of waiting. I don't know about you but I do have a tendency to let things happen. You know what I mean. Take what is given to me, wait for someone to come up with a good idea and then join in the crowd. That attitude might have been successful when I was much younger and life was coming at me from all directions. Marriage, kids, work, social events and certain athletic ventures kept me pretty busy and satisfied in life. Things are different, though, now. I am in my mid-sixties, no longer married, a parent whose kids are now adults leading their own busy lives and retired from the task of reporting to an office to work or a superior to inform of my plans for the day. I might be retired form the demands of full time employment and involvement in a nuclear family unit but I am not retired from life.
A while ago I had a decision to make regarding how I would proceed with my life. I could continue waiting for something to strike my fancy or someone to spark my interest enough to get off my butt and do something or I could actually start taking steps to involve myself intellectually, physically and spiritually in leading a fuller and more rewarding life. I did make a choice at that time. My good friend and business partner and I decided to develop a program based upon our personal experiences which would, we believe, be of use to others seeking to add more "life" to their "life". We have succeeded in developing the program and are nearing the point of presenting our program to the public. We have worked hard and are determined to not sit back and see what happens. We are determined to do what is necessary to realize our dreams. Our chore, as I see it, is to not become complacent but to remain active and involved not only in Odyssey but in every aspect of our lives. Come visit us at http://www.odysseywise
